End Of Month Update: January

So here's a quick update on how my resolutions for the year are going.

1. Stop procrastinating. This one still needs work. I'm getting a little better as things are getting done but my first inclination when I get home from work is to be a bum and spend 2 hours surfing the net.

2. Get my house cleaned and purged. This is on going. Nothing much has left the house yet. Did get some new shelves for the front hall so I have a place to store my purse and backpack that ISN'T the living room floor. Also this gets the reusable grocery bags off of the floor.

3. Improve my eating and drinking habits. This has been going great! I've taken my lunch to work every day! I've only had 2 Coca-Colas since posting my goals. That's HUGE for me! Working on drinking enough water consistently.

4. Take care of my physical self. Now that I've gotten a handle (mostly on my eating) I'm going to be upping the physical activity level in February. Still need to make sure I'm flossing regularily.

5. Take care of my mental self. I've been reading a lot more (yay!) and done some knitting. Not quite over the frantic knitting I had to do for Christmas I suppose.

6. Get a job in a library. This was a total fail. Did nothing for this. BAD ME. Something to work on in February.

7. Be less wasteful. We've been really good about using stuff up! Haven't had to toss a whole lot. Just some chinese food we forgot about.

8. Crack down on my spending. I've been pretty good about the spending. The shelves were paid for by the boyfriend so yay! Bought a new charging cord for my iPad. Going to go for even better in February. I'll be getting my new phone then hopefully. It will be fully paid for in cash so go me!

Overall it's been a good month but I know there's room for improvement.

Welcome (belatedly) to 2015!

Happy New Year!

It's late I know, I know. I've wanted to write this post for the past week and a half but between visiting my parents (who have SLOW SLOW internet), visiting with other family and friends and work it just hasn't happened.

But I'm doing it now and that counts for something right?

Which is my lame segue way into my resolutions/goals for 2015.

1. Stop procrastinating. This is a big one for me. I'm a huge procrastinator and I really want to break that habit. So my new motto is (to quot Nike) Just Do It! Whether it be dishes, laundry or whatever needs to be done. Just do it.

2. Get my house cleaned and purged. We (the boyfriend and I) have already started this. We did a run to Goodwill and the Ecostation today to get rid of stuff we didn't want, old electronics and a ton of recyclable material. We don't put our recycling out in the blue bags because we don't see the point of buying the bags when we're so close to recycling. I've also did 20 minutes cleaning on the spare room/office space today and it's better.

3. Improve my eating and drinking habits. Less crap food and drink more healthy options. A big part of this is continuing to cut back on my Coca-Cola intake. So far I've made it a week without one (a big deal for me considering I'm up at 4am most days and at work by 5am). My water intake has increased and I'm going to work on keeping at a decent level.

4. Take care of my physical self. I've lost 10lbs working the morning shift and I'd like to lose minimum another 10 lbs, hopefully 20. This would put me at a very healthy 120lbs. This is doable. This means upping my physical activity and sticking with goal/resolution 3. The other part of this is taking care of my skin, teeth, hair, etc. Making sure I wash and moisturize, brush my teeth and get to the dentist.

5. Take care of my mental self. Last year at this time I was depressed and in a funk. Now not so much. Getting a job helped big time. This year I'm going to be focusing on doing things that I love and make me happy. Making the time to knit and spend quality time with my friends is high up there.

6. Get a job in a library. Don't get me wrong I really like my current job but it's not something I want to be doing for the rest of my life (the free bread is really good though). I sort of gave up on a library job after I got my current job but now it's time to rededicate to breaking into the library field.

7. Be less wasteful. Me and the boyfriend have a bad habit in forgetting about food in the fridge, freezer and pantry. My goal is to make sure we're using it up and not tossing it.

8. Crack down on my spending. I got spendy the past few months and it's showing on my credit cards. I'm considering a shopping ban (aside from necessities and what I have on gift cards). I don't really need more stuff so I want to save money for debt repayment, savings and for things I'd like to replace (like my really old cellphone. It's a flip phone so that should tell you something). I really want my net worth number to get to the positive side.

So there you have it. It's a lot to accomplish and I just have to remember that I won't get it all in a month that I have a whole year to build up really good habits and to accomplish my goals.

Do you have any New Year's goals/resolutions?
