Dancing With Louis

So today I'm taking a fit-dance class led by none other than Louis Van Amstel from Dancing With The Stars! I'm totally excited. Hopefully I'll have pictures to share later!

Productivity

Even if I do nothing else today me and the boyfriend have been super productive and it's only 9:30am. The stove got moved, wiped down, the walls around the stove got cleaned, swept and mopped under the stove, put down plastic strips under the stove so we can move it easier, put the stove back, wiped down all the lower cupboard doors, swept and mopped the rest of the floor, and did dishes. I vacuumed the living room floor. Now my wonderful boyfriend is making waffles as I sit here writing this.

Yep I'm that excited about being productive on a Sunday!

Changes

So I'm back from vacation and I've started a new chapter in my life.

I'm no longer employed and am now a student at MacEwan University. I'm in the Information Management & Library Technology Porgram. It's exciting being a student again. So far I'm enjoying my courses and am about to start a homework project (The MacEwan Library Runaround...it's like a treasure hunt in the library).

The other big change is to my health. I'm in the process of trying to be healthier. That includes eating healthier and being more active. Being a student I have access to the MacEwan gym and I splurged and got a workout plan developed. Today I had the consultation with my trainer. Next Friday I get my plan. Until then I'll be working on my cardio. My goal is to lose 20lbs or just fit into some of my old clothes and be fit. I'll happily take either.

Until later folks I'm off to search the LIBRARY!!!!!!!!

Update

So once again I've been slack about posting. I'm horrible at it I know. I'm trying to get better. You might notice a few changes and additions to this blog. As of tomorrow I will be unemployed (by choice) and on vacation for 2 weeks. Then I go back to school. I'll be in a 2 year program at Macewan University. I'm studying Information Management & Library Technology. This is a fancy way of saying I'll be a library technician.

My goal is to write down my blog ideas instead of trying to remember them because obviously trying to remember them has failed. There was some good ones but alas....

Stay tuned.

The Girl Who Played With Fire

So I'm totally excited. The follow up to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will be in theatres on Friday. It's called The Girl Who Played With Fire and it looks to be every bit as good as the first movie. I can't wait!

Check out the trailer!

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo PT2

So was just surfing around People.com and saw this article. It's a poll asking you to pick who you'd like to see play Lisbeth Salander in the American version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. My first reaction was to wail "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" freaking my boyfriend out slightly. I love the book and was quite happy with the Swedish version of the movie. I just know that the American version of the movie will bastardize the book so badly. Hopefully I'm wrong about that but time will tell.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

One of my favorite books of late has been The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.

From Wikipedia: "Karl Stig-Erland Larsson (15 August 1954 – 9 November 2004) was a Swedish journalist and writer, born in Skelleftehamn outside SkellefteĆ„. He is best known for his authorship of the Millennium Trilogy of crime novels which were published posthumously."

The book has been made into a movie. The movie is in Swedish with English subtitles. Having gone and seen the movie I was quite impressed. The movie is about 95% faithful to the book. The movie was well written and casted extremely well. I enjoyed the movie immensely.

I'd recommend both reading the book and going and watching the film.
*Disclaimer: There is violent and disturbing scenes in the book and film*

Commercials

So as we all know it's currently the Olympics and there have been so many ads and I thought I'd share my thoughts on a few of them with you.

Firstly I'll started with the provincial ads from B.C., Ontario, and Quebec. I like the "You gotta be here" ad. I thought it was well done. Simple, gorgeous pictures and the celebrities they got were good. I didn't like the Ontario ad. I think they were trying to hard and jammed to much into it. Not to mention I really don't like the song they're singing. The ad for Quebec (and I can't find the ad online) is good. It focuses on the wintery things to do in Quebec. The part that cracks me up though is the final screen: Quebec, Creating emotions since 1534. Whenever I see this I think, "and usually not good ones either."

Next, the Chevrolet ads. I wonder how much money Chevy has poured into this because they have at least 5 or 6 different ads. Some are okay, some not and some are good. My favorite has been the one where they talk about the Men's Hockey Team.

Now for McDonalds and this will be a bit of a rant. Why on earth would CANOC, VANOC or whoever is in charge of these things allow MCDONALDS to be the official restaurant of the Olympic Games? How irresponsible is that. I won't bore you with stats about how unhealthy McDonalds is. We all know that. But why would we encourage people to eat at McDonalds when we're trying to get this country of ours to eat healthier. And all the athletes that did the ads...well apparently MONEY talks.

So what's been your favorite ad so far?

Listisized and Excellerized

Lately I find myself living by lists and Excel spread sheets. It seems that I have a list or spread sheet for everything: groceries, cleaning, what to eat at supper, budget, savings, spending, goals, things to do, so on and so forth. I'd be bothered by this but it seems to be working.

There's no dithering about what to have for supper. The house is starting to get clean and stay that way since I implemented a cleaning schedule. There is no longer a pile up of dishes on the kitchen counters. My savings are going up and spending is starting to come down.

I still need to get to the gym regularly but it's a start right?

Other randoms:

Olympics! I love it! GO CANADA!

I don't think I'm going to have a particular focus for this blog. I think I'd feel limited by that. My goal is to try to post once a week. I've had some great ideas but lost them because I didn't bother to write them down at all. Silly me.
